Based in East Lancashire, this growing construction client are introducing this newly created position in the finance function to increase the visibility and capacity of the finance team. Operating in a vibrant and ever changing sector, they have continued to increase revenue year on year for some time and pride themselves on providing a quality service to a variety of clients across the UK. With a number of revenue streams and further expansion plans in the near future, they are searching for a technically strong assistant accountant to assist in the production of management accounts. A progressive role, this position will be fully supported by the business and will enable the successful applicant to take advantage from study support and long-term coaching.
Your new role as Assistant Accountant:
Supporting the Finance Manager working in a team of 5 you shall assist in the production of monthly management accounts, ensuring they are produced accurately and within set deadlines. A hands-on position with a varied and interesting set of duties, you shall work closely with others across varying departments and assist in the management of junior staff ensuring ledgers are maintained, accurate and up to date.
Main Role Duties:
• Assisting in the production of month end management accounts and supporting financial analysis to trial balance
• Daily bank reconciliations
• Payroll production of weekly and monthly staff including HR administration
• Petty cash management
• Maintenance and management of purchase ledger, ensuring invoices/credits have been processed
• Supervision of credit control & purchase ledger administrators
• Posting business expenses and supporting journals
• Intercompany accounting
• Assisting in the completion of VAT returns
• Assisting in the maintenance of purchase ledger and credit control
• Assisting the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks relating to finance
• Cover Finance team roles during periods of leave
Experience & Qualifications Required to apply:
In order to be considered you shall be well rehearsed in all areas of the JD above. A self-disciplined, hands-on finance professional you shall have operated in a similar role. AAT Qualified, part qualified ACCA/CIMA or QBE, you shall have excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a pro-active approach to a varied workload. With strong attention to detail and a team working ethic, you shall have strong IT skills. Ideally having worked with Sage accounting (although not essential), you shall have excel skills which include VLookups and pivot tables.
