Kenton Black are delighted to be working with a niche accountancy practice, specialising in the charity sector. They have been established for circa 35 years and are a small, friendly and close team of 1 Director and circa 7 staff.

Based just outside the city, with their main client base in the North of England, they provide a range of services including audit, accountancy, bookkeeping and a range of other services to the voluntary sector.

You will be joining a team where the Partners and most of the staff have some experience in the not-for-profit sector and who are committed to working in this sector.

They pride themselves in their work environment which enables them to provide a quality service whilst recognising the need for Partners and staff to maintain a healthy work/life balance. They provide 33 days holidays including Bank Holidays as well as a “Toil Policy”. As a full time employee you will be given an entitlement of 231 hours per annum. As a business they pride themselves in nurturing their employees.

Their busy periods tend to be between May and September.
As a practice they work a 35 hours a week, they offer flexible and hybrid working with core hours (10.00am to 4.00pm)

They are based in a “Co-Working Space” which means they rent desks in an open environment amongst other businesses, which breeds a sociable and fun working environment. There is fruit, coffee and even Yoga Sessions as well as trips out to local restaurants etc; not a typical place for accountants to work.

They are close to nice bars and restaurants and not far from the canal. Whilst you do not need to be a driver, they are close to public transport links with lots of free or cheap parking around their location.

They use a range of software including Quickbooks Online, Sage, Xero and Quickbooks Desktop amongst others

As a training provider they provide full support towards ACCA, should it be required.

The majority of their clients are Charity or Charity related clients and ideally they are looking for individuals that have worked on charity accounts, be it from within a practice environment or within industry.

General duties include:

-Being proactive in identifying personal training needs and liaising with training manager to seek to meet the needs identified

The ideal candidate:

- Working knowledge of Quickbooks/Sage – Desirable
