Company Details and Job Overview:

A Blackpool based SME require an experienced senior finance professional for a period of 12 months to cover maternity leave. Operating in a niche and interesting sector, the business is currently turning over £2-3m per year and further growth is anticipated due to recent significant contract wins and existing clients include various well-known and prestigious brands.

This is a very hands on role with a good level of autonomy and strategic involvement. This position oversees 1 Accounts Assistant who is longstanding within the business and self-sufficient in their role. You will receive ongoing support from a consultant FD who is a key player in the business.

Your New Role as Financial Controller:

This Financial Controller role is a pivotal position within the business where you will be required to work closely with the owners and other key stakeholders. Taking ownership of all accounting related duties for the business, specific duties will include:

• Production of the month end management accounts pack
• Prepare information for year end, being the primary point of contact for auditors
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Production of budgets and forecasts
• Cash flow management
• Working closely with various internal stakeholders throughout the business to provide financial insight, advising and challenging where necessary
• Management of payroll (approx. 16 staff)
• Overseeing the work of the Accounts Assistant, providing mentoring/support as required
• Identify areas for improvements to existing systems and processes and implementing these where required
• Providing ad hoc reports and analysis as required

Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:

To be considered you will be a personable and forward thinking individual, proven in a similar level finance position within an SME. Strong communication skills are imperative as you will be required to work cross-functionally throughout the business. You will also be able to demonstrate strong systems skills including intermediate MS Excel and knowledge of Xero is advantageous.

Summary:

To summarise, this Financial Controller position is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. A comprehensive handover will be provided and the role offers a combination of hands on finance responsibilities as well as business facing/business partnering duties.
