Freelance Surfacing Manager

Kenton Black are working with a Large Main Contractor operating nationally on Highways Framework Projects. Due to the nature of the work, there is a requirement for an experienced Freelance Surfacing Manager for schemes in the Liverpool Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure all schemes have the correct pre-start site specific checks done prior to arriving on site
• Ensure a smooth handover for all schemes
• Allocate resources/plant to schemes in line with the build ups provided by Operations Manager
• Ensure all materials are booked and correct in line with the scheme spec
• Ensure correct Start of Shift briefings are carried out to ensure the gangs are fully informed of their work and responsibilities for each shift, including ensuring specific risks are identified in the scheme pack
• Produce and manage weekly programmes for all labour and plant
• Collect and approve all time sheets from the Sub Agents
• Monitor Plant utilisation and inform Operations Manager of any standing plant or labour
• Chair and minute monthly Foreman Meetings with the Foremen and Sub Agents
• Carry out investigation meetings including for any potential disciplinary issues.
• Encourage Near Miss and MSO reporting through the Foreman and Sub agents
• Near Miss and MSO’s must be reported through the correct company procedures
• Carry out and encourage Toolbox talks through the whole team
• Record all tool box talks delivered on the Share drive registers
• Ensure all plant defects are reported to the P&T department, any defects not being rectified must be escalated to the plant and transport manager

Qualifications:
• Appropriate ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering
• Suitable construction qualification and training course attendance
• Full clean driving license
• Hold a high level of experience in highway construction and maintenance
• CSCS Professionally Qualified
• SMSTS / IOSH (Safety Related Qualification)

• Surfacing experience, Civil Engineering.
• High Speed Network Operations
• Supervision and motivation of all site personnel
• Principal Contractor Duties, CDM
