A privately owned SME on the outskirts of Preston require an experienced Head of Finance to replace an upcoming retirement. Boasting a diverse customer base which includes many well-known brands, the business has experienced year-on-year growth and there are plans for further expansion, predominantly through acquisition activity.

Your New Role as Head of Finance:

In a rounded Head of Finance role, you will report directly to the Managing Director and form part of the Senior Management Team. Managing 2 Finance Assistants, your role will include many hands on aspects whilst providing commercial and strategic input to support decision making.

Duties will include:

• Ownership for the month end management accounting process including production of the P&L, balance sheet, commentary and analysis
• Production of meaningful budgets and forecasts
• Cash flow management
• Leading the year end accounting process, being the primary point of contact for auditors
• Overseeing the purchase and sales ledger
• Driving continual improvement, reviewing and enhancing existing systems and procedures

Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:

To be considered for this Head of Finance position, you will hold a full formal accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with relevant experience at a senior level within finance. You will be experienced in mentoring a small finance team to ensure skills and career development internally. Exposure to ERP implementations within a business is desirable as a new system will be introduced within the next 12-18 months. Additionally, you will have good commercial acumen with strong business partnering skills as you will be required to liaise with various stakeholders, providing financial insight and challenging where required.

Summary:

You will receive a substantial handover from the current postholder before they take retirement to ensure a smooth transition into your new role. In an all-encompassing senior finance role, you will have the opportunity to add true value to the finance function and help to shape the future direction of the business.
