Description
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a strategic lead to join a leading principal contractor as SHEQ Director, delivering an array of projects across Build, Civil Engineering and Rail. You will be very strong operationally as well as being able to bridge the gap between site and strategy. Due to the nature of the project portfolio, experience of leading a HSEQ function for a main contractor is essential.
Reporting into the Executive Board you will be:
- Managing an operational team and ensuring they’re motivated and supported
- Working with sub-contractors to ensure a homogenous approach to Health & Safety
- Provide leadership of and development for the HSEQ team reviewing competence and training needs of staff on a regular basis, and ensuring that continual development is being provided E.g. training, mentoring
- Preparation and presentation of Safety, Health, Wellbeing, Environment and Quality reports to the board in readiness for Management Reviews
- Planning, conducting and maintaining the internal audit programme, preparing and controlling external audit requirements
- Working proactively to identify potential risks and areas for continuous improvement
- A confident communicator able to manage up as well as down
You will be an experienced, confident professional with a passion for Health & Safety, plus an ability to work with people to improve performance. You will also be:
- CMIOSH
- Safety & Health Diploma-qualified (NEBOSH, NVQ, NCRQ – (ESSENTIAL))
- Experienced in main contracting build or civil engineering (ESSENTIAL)
- Experienced in leading a strategic HSEQ function
