Machinery Safety Engineer

Kenton Black engineering is a recruitment partner to a global scientific laboratory They currently looking to hire a machinery safety engineer for their site based in Durham
Responsibilities

ยท To perform inspection/testing/conformity assessments and formally report non conformities to CE/UKCA machinery compliance, using Machinery Directive 2006/42EC, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 (as amended) and Harmonised/Designated Standards (A-type, B-type, C-type) on a variety of industrial machinery and assemblies of machinery.

ยท To carry out certification activities for machinery under Approved Body scheme and ISO/IEC 17065:2012 accredited QMS.

ยท To perform PUWER 98 assessments at client's premises and provide thorough reporting with suggested corrective actions.

ยท To provide client facing services nationally, EU and globally in accordance with the requirements of the Machinery Department

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

ยท Working knowledge of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 (as amended), EN ISO 12100, EN 60204-1, EN ISO 13849-1, EN ISO 4413/EN ISO 4414, main A,B,C-type standards.

ยท PUWER 98/UWED.

ยท Ability to read electrical schematic, pneumatic schematic, hydraulic schematic, P&ID and engineering drawings.

ยท Use of test and measuring equipment for electrical and mechanical validation purposes.

Desirable

ยท Previous experience in an industrial environment covering a broad range of machinery and associated equipment, specifically safety related.

ยท Knowledge/understanding of other main EU Directives/UK Regulations i.e. PED, ATEX, LVD, EMC.

ยท Wiring regulation BS 7271.

Primary Objective of the Role

ยท Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and engineering drawings, including electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics, hydraulic schematics, P&IDs.

ยท Competence in utilizing testing and measuring equipment for electrical and mechanical validation purposes.

ยท Previous experience working in an industrial setting, encompassing diverse machinery and associated safety equipment.
