Kenton Black are delighted to be working with the world’s first ever firm of Chartered Accountants who are looking to recruit a Personal & Trust Tax Manager for their Chester Team.

Based in the heart of Chester, they offer a wide range of specialist personal and corporate accountancy services for clients throughout Chester and the surrounding areas.


General Accountancy, Taxation including Tax Planning, VAT, Audit, Management Accounts, Bookkeeping & Payroll, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Risk Management.


Clients are drawn from the entire cross section of local trade and industry. They include family businesses, substantial limited companies and groups, charities, trusts, housing associations and public sector bodies. They have particular expertise in the legal profession, agricultural sector, property estates, retail pharmacies and the dental sector.

Their Partners in the Chester office are well known in their business communities, reflecting the emphasis they place on personal service.

They maintain close personal contacts with local banks and other lending agencies, enabling them to introduce clients to suitable sources of funding. They are also very experienced at advising and assisting clients with preparing effective submissions.

Due to the retirement of a very long standing member of their tax Team they are now looking for a Personal & Trust Tax Manager.

The Partner in charge is one of two Partners at the Chester office. His main area of professional practice is in private client work. Typical clients are owners of family businesses, farmers, members of the professions and wealthy individuals. The type of expertise required to service such varied clients is just as wide-ranging, extending beyond the preparation of tax returns and accounts to include financial reviews, succession planning, providing for retirement and IHT mitigation. He provides the full range of advice, tax and financial planning skills demanded by this work; he firmly believes that it is only by establishing a close working relationship with clients that he can deliver the high level of service expected in today's business environment.

As Personal & Trust Tax Manager you will be working in a small team of two - with 25% of your work being advisory and the remainder compliance.

They have circa 1000 tax returns a year however at least 200 of these are Partnerships which can be done on CCH with the press of a button so the rest would be split between the team.


-Strong Personal and Trust Tax Experience – Essential
-Corporation/ Business Tax – Desirable but not essential
-ATT/ CTA Desirable but not essential although it would be advised that the individual appointed would like to progress to this qualification at some point in their future as part of their personal career development plan AND growth
-Use of CCH – Desirable but not essential
-Strong Practice Background in Tax – Essential
-Local to Chester - Essential
-Advisory Experience - Some would be highly desirable
-Able to work on own initiative - Essential
-Excellent communication and client facing skills - Essential
-A good team member - Essential
