Product Development Manager

£37,000 per annum plus bonus and substantial benefits package

My client is a global leader in specialist nutritional products, supplying high quality medical nutrition to the very young, the old and the immunocompromised, in order to help people live longer, healthier lives. A rare opportunity has presented itself for a Product Development Manager to join their expanding R&D team!

The Product Development Manager will have the following responsibilities:

• Manage approximately 3 -6 different projects
• Take lead from the technical side to discuss/assess raw materials, recipes, products (sensory, physical chemical properties, shelf-life), involving all relevant tech functions across functions and regions
• Organise sample analysis, pilot trials, factory productions, etc.
• Write reports or official PD documents according to procedure.

The ideal candidate for the Product Development Manager will have:

• An MSc or equivalent in Food Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or similar working/thinking level obtained via experience
• 3 years of experience in a R&D related environment or factory technology job/ environment or business related role in the FMCG industry, preferably food related.
• Experience with FSMP products is a plus.
• Affinity with dairy food and process technology fundamentals and how to apply these in a practical way
• Able to communicate effectively across functions (R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, QFS), regions and hierarchies
• Team player with an autonomous and independent working attitude
• Enthusiastic, pro-active, solution oriented, open-minded, fast learner, curious and with a hands-on approach.
