Senior Analytical Chemist
Yorkshire – commutable from Leeds, York and Harrogate
Up to £40,000 per annum

This is a rare job opportunity for a Senior Analytical Chemist to join a world class, global Chemical Manufacturer at their site in West Yorkshire. Reporting in to the Lab Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out scientific test procedures on raw materials for industries including, Coatings, Composites, Adhesives and Personal Care.

You will join the Technical Department, but will also be expected to work closely with the company’s senior management and technical sales team to support the development of new products, monitor quality of existing products and provide information relating to customer enquiries.
Responsibilities of the Senior Analytical Chemist are:

• Preparing samples for analysis
• Undertaking analysis of raw materials, intermediates and final product, using analytical techniques such as GC, HPLC, IR and UV Spectroscopy
• Using wet chemistry and physical testing techniques such as aqueous and non-aqueous titrations and viscosity measurements
• Supporting the team in routine, non-routine analysis, method reviews, problem solving and trouble shooting
• Reviewing and checking technical documentation, standard operating procedures and policies
• Entering results and maintaining the company’s record database, as required
• Completing relevant paperwork

The ideal candidate for the Senior Analytical Chemist will have:

• The ideal candidate will have a BSC in Chemistry or related subject
• Previous experience of working in laboratories (pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals) using analytical techniques such as HPLC or GC would be desirable. Additionally, experience in method development would also be advantageous
• Experience in the use of traditional wet chemical and physical testing techniques, e.g. aqueous and non-aqueous titrations and viscosity measurements
