My client is looking for a Site Manager, preferably HNC or HND civils type qualifications but any other qualifications would be equally welcome – alternatively good, relevant experience will be deemed as appropriate. Ideally, the candidate will have several years work experience in civil engineering with a contract on site (possibly with a tier 1 or 2 company for example) in a Site Manager role.
Experience of overseeing subcontractors, managing quality control and AQ is essential as is the ability to understand programming logic and potentially have ability in Project Programming software. You will have experience of working with a cohesive site team and report jointly with the Project Manager at monthly progress meetings representing the company on the work the site has completed to date.
You will be able to forecast works, have a good understanding on NEC based projects implementing EWN’s and CE’s, have the ability to manage change and seek out all commercial opportunities that either present themselves or that you can seek out yourself. Recording all events on site in the various recording mediums for “as built” information is an imperative. You will need to be able to take control and be responsible for everything that happens on site and have a good safety-based knowledge of how to execute the work in the Project Manager’s absence. The ability to communicate clearly in good English – both written and spoken – is another imperative.
Other duties will include liaising with Senior Management as well as our client and you will be able to report upwards to line managers in a calm, authoritative, organised and logical manner.
Knowledge of the type of work the company undertakes will be an advantage – but alternatively, good experience in a broad number of civils disciplines will need to be managed with both direct and agency operatives as well as subcontractors working under you.
The salary band they are offering for this role is £45-50k package. Opportunities may exist to improve the candidate’s qualifications with entry onto varied courses such as SMSTS, First Aider, ICorr, SEATS etc. The company will provide a company vehicle and fuel card for the right candidate with eligibility for the bonus scheme payments after a full year employment – pension plan and private health care will follow.
